Who are we?

Paul Anthony

Paul “Stormin” Anthony (Houston, TX) - Paul has always had entertainment coursing through his veins. A graduate of Connecticut School of Broadcasting, Paul has an extensive background in radio hosting and production. He currently works in technology, and lives with his wife in Houston, TX. Along with Corey Schon, Paul originally began the idea of the Rock-a-Thon in early December 2008. Paul is the contact guy for The Rock-A-Thon and can be reached at paulanthony at therockathon dot com.

Corey (ateatree)

Corey “ateatree” Schon (Orlando, FL) - Corey was on board from the moment we started this project and became a huge help as he kept things on track in it’s infancy to today. A musician through and through… except when he’s not. Corey has been making music in one form or another since the age of 5, having experience and ability on no less than 6 different instruments. He took private voice lessons for four years, and is currently in an a cappella group at his university.

Corey is currently a junior at the University of Central Florida and is double-majoring in Digital Media and Creative Writing – he hopes to write for the video games industry at some point in the near future. He plays all four Rock Band instruments at Expert difficulty.

Kristi

Kristi “Kritti” Slawinski (Houston, TX) - Kristi graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. She currently works for a local charity in Houston TX, where she lives with her husband. She has sung in church and school choirs her entire life and is our Female Lead Vocalist for this operation.

To prepare, Kristi is undergoing extensive training, getting the Joan Jett sneer, dressing like Gwen Stefani and belting out Pat Benatar out of nowhere. She began playing Rock Band last year and not only sings, but also plays bass, although has only mastered the hard difficulty to date. Her favorite songs include: “Our Truth” by Lacuna Coil, “Gunpowder and Lead” by Miranda Lambert, and “Skullcrusher Mountain” by Jonathan Coulton.

Allen “w00tazn” Nguyen (College Station, TX) – Allen is currently a Senior at Texas A&M University majoring in Computer Engineering.  He’s been a great help in designing the overall look and feel of the website and is a great plastic instrument player to boot.

AJ (HatPerson)

Mark “Sully” Olson (Boston, MA) – We met Sully one night and immediately knew we had to have him on the team, he hails from Boston and is one of the people that has kept us grounded and given us plenty of practice and relaxation during the hectic times of planning the event. We wouldn’t be where we are without him.

Ciji “StarSlay3r” Thornton (Los Angeles, CA) - StarSlay3r has been gaming competitively since 1998. In 2006 she decided to step it up a notch and leveled up to “Pro” status and is a Free Agent that competes in tournaments for games in all genres and across multiple platforms.

While Ciji is known for her past as a Guitar Hero player, she has a total of over 30 top 5 finishes in 7 games across 3 genres. She currently is playing competitively in many games including Rock Band, Need For Speed,  Street Fighter 4, and BlazBlue. On top of working and gaming, she also takes time out to help out charities. She has been known to help raise money for The Autism society of America, breast cancer research, To Write Love on Her Arms, Starlight Childrens Foundation, and helping the homeless in southern California.

Robert “Prod1gy X” Paz (New York, NY) - A professional gamer of Empire Arcadia, Prod1gy X is a trend-setter in the world of professional gaming. After becoming a Pro Gamer at the age of 16, Robert wasn’t content to focus on one game, but instead, to master several. His motto “A New Breed of Gamer” sums it up; he combines a unique style with expertise in several game genres. Robert believes gamers should be active role models, and a positive influence in their communities.

Robert was featured on WCG Ultimate Gamer on SyFy, and was one of the final two contestants. He is a world record holder in Rock Band 2. Robert currently competes in Halo 3, Gears of War 2, Rock Band 2, Dance Dance Revolution, Project Gotham Racing 4, and many more.

Freddie Wong (Los Angeles, CA) – Freddie’s brief stint as a pro gamer started in 2006 when he won first place at the Dallas World Series of Video Games, which aired on CBS. His career as a performer was kick started by a front page article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer about his WSVG victory in what would prove to be the slowest news day in Seattle history.

In addition, Freddie’s Rock Band band “Hellanor Brozevelt” won an MTV sponsored nationwide search for the best game band, and performed at the Rock Band west coast midnight launch party in Los Angeles. In addition, Hellanor Brozevelt performed in Ibiza, Spain for the Rock Band 2 European launch, netting them the dubious honor of being the first video game band to tour internationally.

Corey (ateatree)

Chris “Zamfire” Mansker (New York, NY) - Paul originally met Chris in Austin, TX and has been friends with him ever since, Chris taught Paul how to play rhythm games and have been playing alongside him ever since.

Chris (Romsus)

Chris “Romsus” Romolino (Roseville, MI) – Chris was one of the best drummers we have seen and while we met Chris the same place as most everyone else, he stopped by one of the parties that Paul had thrown and proved to be a capable drummer who we are looking forward to getting us through those “Impossible” songs.

William “Orgophlax” Ingles (Allentown, PA) – Orgophlax has been a typical gamer since he was 6. Decided to pick up the original Guitar Hero on a whim and has been hooked on Harmonix’s music rhythm games since the first note he strummed in the tutorial. Over the course of 5 years has grown into a respectable expert level guitar player, and can also play mid-high expert drums (don’t ask him to sing though; ouch).

Decided to join the Rock-a-Thon because of being bored to tears throughout his own numerous childhood hospital stays due to a congenital heart condition, and hopes to help raise a good amount of money for Childs Play. When not playing video games, Orgophlax enjoys chasing after his 2 sons with his wife.

Adam “Gaspar” Maresca (Plainview, NY) – One of the youngest guns on the team, Adam is a college freshman at Five Towns College as an audio engineering student. After a lifelong tangential love affair with music, from bedroom producing bootlegs in middle school to serving as a radio DJ today, Rock Band came as a perfect fit. Very sharp Rock Band devotees might even recall his semi-notorious mashup “No No No No No” from 2008. Gaspar joins us as a vocalist, ready and willing to sing in public and even have irrefutable evidence he did it… if it’s for the children

Akia Fowler (Houston, TX) - Akia is one of the best fake plastic guitar players that HostGator has to offer. Akia and Paul both started at HostGator about the same time and have always had a rivalry in Rock Band. Akia brings to the table a great sense of humor and his willingness to help out when the time is needed.

…And more!
